UPDATE FOR BOATERS

The Municipality has removed the courtesy tie-up floating dock from the Water St. launch ramp site.A sign of the seasons changing. It is now easier to launch and haul larger boats but you may have to temporarily tie up at the Government wharf while you deal with your vehicle and trailer on the ramp.May all you die-hard sailors enjoy the tail end of a great boating season.

ARTS AND SOCIAL NEWS

Fri.Oct.19'th Lordly House Museum- HARVESTFEST ACTIVITIES ATTRACT LARGE CROWD As part of the 5'th Annual Chester Municipal Harvestfest,Central and Regent streets were all but blocked by children and spooks of all ages waiting to tour the haunted Lordly Manor.Other events included a tour of St. Stephens Church cemetery and activities on the grounds of Zoe Valle Library. The evening got underway with a costume parade and prizes at the village fire hall. There were many people out for the event as Sylvia McNeill, one of the many volunteers mentioned that they used 250 cups to serve warm cider to the masses. The evening rain did nothing to dampen the spirit of the "spirits" conducting the great haunt. This reporter toured the Manor and they are to be commended for their efforts as the sights and sounds were as good or better than most commercial theme parks would feature.Have a safe and happy Hallow's Eve.

Sat.Oct.20'th Chester Playhouse- LENNIE GALLANT PLAYS TO SOLD-OUT HOUSE This performance brought a diverse crowd out to the best little theatre in Nova Scotia, all of them enthusiastic Lennie fans.Since his first performance at The Playhouse,Lennie has had a special place in his heart for the venue and he did not disappoint his audience this evening.Featuring a song from his '91 album Breakwater to numbers from his latest,When We Get There and selections in between these recordings, Lennie had the appreciation of his fans the moment he strummed his first chord.Backed up by Brad Davidge on guitar, songs old and new took on a life of their own if audience reaction was any kind of a gauge for quality. The audience was fortunate to be treated to the premiere of two new songs, the poignant and evocative "Wounded" which was written as a tribute to our servicemen in all conflicts and "Before We Sell This Car",a poetic country style tune. With his stellar performance this evening,Lennie Gallant scores the hat trick for sellout shows at the ChesterPlayhouse this fall.
